Puzzles For SBI PO : Day 10

Eight persons P, Q, R, S, T, U, V and W are seated around a circular table such that four faces the centre and four are facing opposite to the centre. They like different companies laptops viz, Dell, Lenovo, Apple, Samsung, Sony, HP, Acer and Asus not necessarily in the same order. The arrangement is based on the following rules:
• One who likes Asus is seated opposite to Q.
• P is 3rd to the right of the one who likes HP who is seated between R and the one who likes Apple.
• V is 3rd to the left of S who likes Acer.
• W is to the immediate left of the one who likes Sony
• One who likes Asus is a neighbour of P
• Q does not like HP and V does not like Asus
• Q is 2nd to the left of T who is not a neighbour of P
• Either Q or V likes Sony
• P and R are seated facing the same direction.
• The one who likes Apple is 2nd to the right of the one who likes Lenovo
• P and W do not like Lenovo. V faces outside the centre
• One who likes Samsung is facing the opposite direction faced by S.
• Not more than 2 persons who sit on consecutive seats face the same direction.






Nine persons – L, T, K, S, M, P, R, V and W – are sitting around a circular table, but not necessarily in the same order. Some of them are facing the centre and the rest are facing away from the centre. The following information is known about them.
(i) T sits third to the right of P and second to the left of M.
(ii) V sits four places away from K, who is two places away from L.
(iii) S sits to the immediate right of W as well as P.
(iv) T and W are facing the same direction. P and K are facing the same direction. (I. e., if T is facing the centre, W is also facing the centre and vice-versa, if P is facing away from the centre, K is also facing away from the centre and vice-versa)
(v) R and S are three places away from V. Only one of them is facing the centre.
(vi) M sits to the immediate right of L, who is facing the centre.

Puzzle :1

(i) Mrs. Rajan Verma, a banker, has five sons – Rahul, Naresh, Mohan, Sachin and Anup, and three daughters – Tina, Priyanka and Disha.

(ii) Anup is her eldest child and Disha is the youngest.
(iii) Priyanka, the eldest daughter's favourite pastime is playing Ludo.
(iv) Tina and Mohan study at St John’s school.
(v) The children who are at St Paul’s have been born in succession.
(vi) Only St Paul’s offers Kabaddi while only St Conrad’s offers Ludo. Besides these, these schools offer no other games.
(vii) Naresh and Sachin play Kabaddi while Rahul plays Tennis.
(viii) Three of the children are at St Conrad’s and three at St John’s.

(x) Mohan, who was born just before Disha, is extremely fond of playing Volleyball.

Seven Specialist doctors Rajat, Rajesh, Kavita, Pradeep, Dinesh, Zakir and Hitesh visit AIIMS on four days –Monday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday – in a week. At least one doctor but not more than two doctors visits the AIIMS on each of these days. Each of them is a specialist in different fields – Dentist, Cardiologist, General Physician, Psychiatrist, Nephrologist, Orthopedist and Urologist.


(i) Pradeep visits on Saturday with Orthopedist.

(ii) The Nephrologist does not visit on Sunday nor with Dinesh and Hitesh.
(iii) The Urologist Zakir visits alone on Monday.
(iv) Rajesh visits on Thursday and he is not Nephrologist.
(v) Kavita visits on Thursday. Hitesh is not Orthopedist.
(vi) The Nephrologist visits with the Dentist specialist.
(vii) The General Physician visits on Saturday.

In the IPL bidding conference, Anupam, Bhanu, Chiku, Parul, Sonal, Monal, Shanu and Hitesh sit around a circular table facing the Centre. Neither two males nor two females can be immediate neighbours. Anupam is wife of Hitesh. Anupam sits third to the left of Sonal. Monal sits second to the right of Parul. Parul is not an immediate neighbours of Anupam or Sonal. Hitesh and Chiku are immediate neighbours of each other. Monal is not an immediate neighbour of his wife Bhanu. (In the given information the names mentioned do not suggest the genders in any way.)

A faces same direction as H. Immediate neighbors of B face opposite directions (i.e. if one neighbor faces east then the other west and vice-versa).
Persons sitting at extreme ends face opposite directions. C faces the direction opposite to D.

Seven persons D, E, F, G, H, I and J belong to three different cities, viz Bangalore, Calcutta and Ahmedabad with at least two persons from each city. Each of them likes a different color – Yellow, Black, Green, White, Blue, Orange and Pink – but not necessarily in the same order.


E likes Black. I does not like Blue but he belongs to Calcutta with J. E belongs to a city only with D and H but is not from Ahmedabad. H does not belong to Calcutta but he likes Orange. The one who likes Pink does not belong to either Bangalore or Calcutta. D likes Green. The one who likes Black does not belong to Calcutta.

J does not like Pink. F belongs to Ahmedabad only with the person who likes White.

The one who is the eldest in the family is the tallest as well. S is not taller than her grandmother.

Study the following information carefully and answer the questions given below
Six plays are to be organized from Monday to Sunday- one play each day with one day when there is no play. ‘No play’ day is not Monday or Sunday.
The plays are held in sets of 3 plays each in such a way that 3 plays are held without any break, ie 3 plays are held in such a way that there is no ‘No play' day between them but immediately before this set or immediately after this set it is ‘No Play’ day.
Play Z was held on 26th and play X was held on 31st of the same month.
Play B was not held immediately after play A (but was held after A, not necessarily immediately) and play M was held immediately before Q.
All the six plays were held in the same month.

Ten people are sitting in two parallel rows having five people each in such a way that there is equal distance between adjacent persons. In row – 1 Roy, Thakur, Singh, Gupta and Saini are seated (not necessarily in the same order) and all of them are facing south. In row-2 Mishra, Yadav, Rathore, Aggarwal and Pathak are seated (not necessarily in the same order) and all of them are facing north. Therefore, in the given seating arrangement each member seated in a row faces another member of the other row.
Pathak sits third to the right of Yadav. Mishra sits second to the left of Pathak. The person facing Mishra sits on the immediate right of Thakur. Only one person sits between Thakur and Gupta. Roy is not an immediate neighbour of Thakur. Only two people sit between Roy and Singh. Neither Thakur nor Roy faces Aggarwal.

1..Direction: Study the following information carefully and answer the questions given below.

(i) There are four types of cards, viz King, Queen, Jack and Ace. All the four types of cards are available in four categories - Spades, Hearts, Clubs and Diamonds. These are to be distributed among four players - A, B, C and D.
(ii) All players get all types and all categories cards.
(iii) A gets King of Club. D gets Queen of Heart. B and C get Jack of Spade and Ace of Diamond respectively.
(iv) D does not get Jack of Diamond.






2..Direction: Read the following passage and solve the questions based on it.
(Any additional information provided with a particular question pertains to that individual question only.)
The placement office of a management school has to schedule seven companies viz., P, Q, R, S, T, U and V for the placement week (the week starts on a Sunday) but not necessarily in that order. This group of seven companies is divided into three categories, viz., finance, manufacturing and sales. There are three companies in the final category and two each in one manufacturing and sales categories. The placement schedule is such that the same category companies have to be scheduled consecutively. It has also been decided that:
(i) Company S, which is a manufacturing company, cannot be scheduled on the sixth day of the week.
(ii) Companies Q and U are scheduled consecutively but not necessarily in that order.
(iii) Company T can be scheduled on any day of the week except on a Saturday.
(iv) Company R, which is in the same category as the companies Q and U, has to be scheduled on the third day of the week.

Boxes with odd numbers are situated opposite to the boxes with even numbers and no two even number boxes with even number and no two boxes with odd numbers are adjacent to each other. No two boxes have consecutive numbers.
Box no 8 is occupied by books and it is to the extreme left of one end of the row.
Box 4 and 6 are not in the row of box no 8 and any of the boxes numbered 4, 6, and 3 are not in the middle of the row.
Gums are placed in Box no 5.and its box is not situated in the row where box no 6 is situated.
Notes are placed in an odd numbered box and placed in a row where Books are situated but both are not adjacent to each other.
Sharpener’s and Chalk’s box are adjacent to box no 6 and Chalk’s box is not adjacent to box no 4.
Pencil’s and Cover’s box are placed in the same row. Pen’s box is even numbered but not 10 and diagonally opposite to box no 1 which contains stickers

She is from Bihar. She does not read the Asian Age and The Hindustan Times. Priya from UP, reads The Indian Express. She do not stays with Pooja. Reena stays with a girl from Rajasthan. The Asian Age is read by a girl in Meghdoot hostel. Manisha is not from Haryana and Paschim Banga and she read The Pioneer. A girl from Geetanjali hostel reads The Hindu. Rinki is neither from Delhi nor from Paschim Banga. The Hindustan Time and The Indian Express do not come in PG women’s hostel. Girls from UP and Haryana stay together. The pioneer comes to PG women’s hostel. The girl who reads the Indian Express resides at Meghdoot.

Each likes a different flowers i.e. Lily, Lotus, Jasmine, Sunflower, Orchid, Hibiscus, Tulip, Marigold, Rose and Lavender.
G sits third to the right of F and likes Sunflower. Only two people sit between E and the vacant seat. E does not like Orchid or Jasmine flower. Q is not an immediate neighbour of O. 3.Study the following information carefully and answer the question given below:
Eight persons - H, I, J, K, L, M, N and O - are standing in a straight line at equidistant. Some of them are facing north while others are facing south.
M is standing third to the right to H. M is standing at one of the extreme ends. L is standing third to the left of H. The immediate neighbours of J face north. N is not an immediate neighbour of H.
The persons standing at the extreme ends face the same direction (both are facing either North or South). The immediate neighbours of H face just opposite direction as that of M. The immediate neighbours of O face opposite direction with respect to each other.

Eight persons A, B, C, D, E, F, G and H are sitting around a circular table facing the center. They like different colors, Black, Green, Blue, White, Orange, Red, Yellow and Pink but not necessarily in the same order. They also belong to three different cities- Kolkata, Mumbai and Pune. At least two & not more than three persons belong to one city.

A like Orange and belong to Mumbai and sits on the immediate right of E. Only D and E belong to Kolkata and D sits third to the right of E. F like White and belong to Pune. H belongs to same city as G. G is third to the left of F. B sits opposite the person who likes Pink. C sits exactly opposite the person who likes Black. Each of them belong to different cities, Jaipur, Kolkata, Delhi, Mumbai, Pune, Raipur, Ranchi and Patna but not necessarily in the same order. There is only one floor between P and the one who belongs to Patna lives. The person who belongs to Patna does not live on floor numbered 1. S lives just below Q. The one who belongs to Jaipur lives an even numbered floor and just above the floor on which the one who belongs to Pune lives. The person who belongs to Raipur lives on an even numbered floor but not on the 8th floor. Neither S nor W lives on the 1st floor. Only one person lives between the one who belongs to Ranchi and S. P lives on an odd-numbered floor and T lives just above P. Q lives on the fourth floor.

Only two persons live between the person who belongs to Raipur and P. U lives just below the one who belongs to Pune. S belongs to neither Pune nor Patna. The one who belongs to Delhi does not live on an odd-numbered floor. V does not belong to Kolkata. There are two floors between the floor on which W lives and the floor on which T lives. Only two persons live between the one who belongs Mumbai and the one who belongs to Delhi.

Eight friends namely viz, Mohan, Ravi, Sumit, Manish, Mahesh, Sunita, Amit and Arun like three cities i.e. Mumbai, Agra and Delhi and each of them like a different games i.e. Badminton, Cricket, Tennis, Football, Golf, Racing, Kho-Kho and Archery, but not necessarily in the same order. At least two and not more than three friends like the same city.

The one who likes Tennis is the only other friend who likes the same city as Manish. Mohan and Amit both like Delhi. Amit does not like Kho-Kho. Manish likes Mumbai and likes Badminton. The one who likes Delhi does not like Racing. Ravi likes Football but does not like Agra. No one from Delhi likes Archery. Arun does not like Tennis and likes same city as Sumit. E who likes Intex is sitting along with the one who likes Lenovo. D likes neither Sony nor Lenovo. The one who likes Samsung is sitting immediately left of B. B is sitting in the middle of the row. C is sitting fourth to the right of the one who likes Intex. The one who likes Jio is sitting third to the right of D. The one who likes Nokia and Sony are facing the same direction and sitting together and one of them is sitting at one of the ends. G is sitting two place away from A and they both face opposite directions.
H likes HTC and is facing in the North direction and is sitting at third position from the right end. The one who likes Apple is sitting 2nd to the right of the person Who likes Sony. I faces in the south direction. The one who likes Apple is facing the direction opposite to that of I. The immediate neighbours of the one who likes Apple is facing the direction same as that of I. The one who likes Apple is neither sitting with the one who likes HTC nor with the one who likes Nokia. G does not like Jio.

G, H, I, J, K, L, M and N are sitting around a square table. Four of them sit in the middle of each of the four sides and the rest at four corners of the table. The ones who sit at the four corners face inward while those who sit in the middle of the sides face outside.
* I sits fourth to the right of his wife and his wife is not an immediate neighbor of G or M.
* G sits second to the left of M, who sits in the middle of one of the sides.
* Two females sit in the middle of the sides and two at the corners.
* H sits third to right of her husband and does not sit at any of the corners.
* Only J sits between H and N.
* N is the husband of G. K is a male.

All these eight people are sitting in a row facing North direction. It is known that A is sitting four places away from C, who likes Brown. None of these two is sitting at the extreme position. F likes White and sitting to the immediate right of H. Only E is sitting to the left of D, who doesn't like Red or Yellow. G likes Black and is sitting at the extreme end but not adjacent to the person who likes Brown. B, who likes Green, is not sitting between F and H. A likes Pink. Eight friends – G, H, I, J, K, L, A and B - live in a nine-floored apartment where the floors are numbered 1 to 9 from ground to top. Each of them plays a different game from among Cricket, Badminton, Tennis, Golf, Shooting, Kho-Kho, Football and Rugby. Each floor has one flat and one of the flats in the building is vacant.
1) The person who plays Badminton is the only person who lives between A and G.
2) Only one person lives between H and G.
3) B plays Kho-Kho.
4) L lives immediately below the vacant flat.
5) One of the two people who live between A and B plays Golf.
6) H lives on the floor immediately below B.
